Sanjel is committed to a continuous reduction of the hazards posed to our employees, clients and the environment by the use of chemical products
and fluids.
This focus has led our Regulatory and Environmental Services Department to create our own Sanjel Chemical Hazard Rating System (SCHRS). This new protocol, based on the globally-recognized GHS classification system, provides an objective ranking of the health, environmental and physical hazards of any chemical substance.
Weighting factors for many of the attributes of concern follow the recommendations of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s ‘Design for Environment’ (DfE) Program. The final score for a chemical product is based on the GHS classification for each ingredient and the percentage of that ingredient in the product.
The SCHRS has quickly become an integral part of our R&D process. One early success has been the identification of an acid corrosion inhibitor with a significantly lower hazard rating than the incumbent products.
Features & Benefits:
- Provides a standardized rating system for the physical properties of chemical products and the hazard that they represent to human health and the environment
- Provides guidance and priorities for research and product development
- Provides objective hazard scores for individual chemical components and complete products
- Identifies the relative contributions to overall hazard from human health, physical properties and environmental characteristics
