Description:

As a member of the Canadian Business Unit, the Technical Specialist, Fracturing Services will report directly to the Group Lead - Fracturing Services and will be located at our Head Office location. Working in an environment that promotes creativity, the Technical Specialist will identify new product opportunities and assist in bringing these to market and work with the Business Line Management to support strategies to best capture market opportunities. The Technical Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring effective Fracturing treatment design, the communication of this design to our customers through the Sales Department, and the successful treatment execution through the support of Operations. It is the Technical Specialist's role to ensure that appropriate information is collected, analyzed and researched so that accurate and effective job designs are created.

General Responsibilities:

• Design Fracturing treatments using appropriate tools and modeling software, including the selection of appropriate stimulation techniques, fluids, materials, and equipment, as well as preparation of efficient and safe work procedures
• Actively participate in follow-up activities for jobs that employ new materials, techniques or equipment
• Work with Sales, the Laboratory, Operations and the client to ensure the treatment is feasible and successful and is consistent with equipment and material availability
• Work with Field staff, Operations, and Engineering during required Field visits
• Develop a functioning knowledge of real-time monitoring and supervision
• Provide real-time treatment recommendations to ensure that the treatment is fully optimized
• Perform job design and cost estimates
• Assist in maintaining and updating the Fracturing database
• Follow best practices as directed

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related technologist diploma
• 3-5 years' experience in Fracturing with an excellent understanding of oilfield service company operations and chemical technology
• Knowledge of safety standards and requirements of complex oilfield service operations
• Working knowledge of computer based programs related to the application of fracturing, including GOPHER, Fracpro PT, and Predict-K is an asset
